Sensorimotor-perceptual Treatments

Targeted training to improve perception and sensory integration. With special exercises, I promote your sensory perception and the processing of sensory stimuli.

Sensorimotor-perceptual treatments

My Treatment Focus Areas

Visual Training

  • Improvement of visual perception
  • Training of eye movements
  • Visuomotor coordination
  • Improvement of reading ability

Spatial Perception

  • Training of spatial orientation
  • Improvement of depth perception
  • Recognizing spatial relationships
  • Orientation in space

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration describes the ability to process and coordinate various sensory stimuli. Good sensory integration is the foundation for successful movements and actions in daily life.

  • Training of tactile perception (sense of touch)
  • Vestibular perception (sense of balance)
  • Proprioceptive perception (body sense)
  • Integration of various sensory stimuli

Body Awareness & Proprioception

Body awareness (proprioception) enables us to feel the position of our body and limbs in space without looking. This ability is essential for coordinated movements.

  • Improvement of body awareness
  • Training of deep sensitivity
  • Awareness of posture and movement
  • Improvement of movement quality

Treatment of Perceptual Disorders

Perceptual disorders can affect various areas and manifest differently. With targeted exercises and strategies, I support you in dealing with these challenges and improving your abilities.

  • Individual diagnosis of perceptual abilities
  • Targeted training of affected areas
  • Development of compensation strategies
  • Everyday-oriented exercises

My Approach

Sensorimotor-perceptual treatments aim to improve your perceptual abilities and optimize the processing of sensory stimuli. Using the SMART concept, we develop realistic goals together that are tailored to your individual needs.

My treatment is based on scientifically proven methods of occupational therapy and perception therapy. I work with various materials and exercises that engage your senses and promote perceptual processing.

Therapy takes place at your home, which has the advantage that we can work directly in your familiar environment. This allows me to optimally adapt the exercises to your everyday challenges and develop practical solutions that you can implement immediately.

Common questions about sensorimotor-perceptual treatment

What is a sensorimotor-perceptual treatment?

A form of treatment that starts with perception: seeing, feeling, body awareness, sense of space. When the brain no longer processes sensory input properly, everyday activities stall even though strength and mobility are there. That is exactly where we start.

What is the difference from motor-functional treatment?

Motor-functional treatment works on strength, mobility and coordination. Sensorimotor-perceptual treatment works on processing sensory input – on being able to perceive, interpret and respond to it. The two often overlap; which one takes priority is something we clarify at the first appointment.

Who is this treatment for?

For example with perceptual disorders after a stroke such as neglect, with altered sensation in the hands or feet, with uncertainty in space, with difficulty recognising or distinguishing objects, and with reduced body awareness after neurological conditions.

What does perception training at home look like?

We work with what is there: feeling and distinguishing objects, guiding the gaze systematically across a table or a room, moving safely along routes in the home, breaking activities down into single steps. Because we practise in your familiar surroundings, what you practise takes effect exactly where it is needed.

This treatment as a home visit

I treat exclusively at your home – no waiting room, no journey. I travel regularly to Offenbach an der Queich, Landau in der Pfalz, Annweiler am Trifels, Bad Bergzabern, Edenkoben, Herxheim bei Landau and the surrounding area of the Southern Wine Route.

My services are for private patients and self-payers. If you would like the treatment without a medical prescription, that is possible – simply say so when you get in touch.
